The cake itself tasted good, but Bakery 1908 got my order completely wrong, and the overall customer service experience was subpar. I initially tried calling while I was at work to order a surprise birthday cake for my girlfriend. I was told they do not accept orders over the phone because of “communication issues,” which was inconvenient, but I went to the bakery in person and placed the order anyway. I specifically requested mango filling, which cost an additional $10. The employee repeated the mango filling back to me and asked me to verify the order on the screen. I confirmed that everything looked correct. The total was around $80, so I expected the order to be accurate, especially after paying extra for a specific filling. When we finally cut into the cake, there was no mango filling at all. Instead, it appeared to be canned pineapple. This was not remotely what I ordered or what the employee confirmed. For an already expensive custom cake with a $10 filling upgrade, that was extremely disappointing. This also was not the first labeling or order issue we experienced. Stopped by Bakery 1908 in Gainesville for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. They have a huge variety of Asian-style pastries, buns, cakes, and drinks, so it was hard to choose just a few things. Everything I tried tasted fresh and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. The bakery was clean, the staff were friendly, and the display cases were well stocked. I especially liked that there were both sweet and savory options, making it easy to grab breakfast or an afternoon snack. Definitely a great spot if you're looking for something different from a typical bakery. I'll be coming back to try more ite

Best bakery in town! So many fresh and tasty options, we had a hard time just choosing a couple items and not everything. The space is quiet and has wifi. We will be back every time we are in town!

Stopped here on a road trip and really enjoyed the ham and cheese loaf — it was delicious and definitely something I’d order again. The pistachio croissant was good as well, though it had quite a bit of icing for my taste. One thing that didn’t sit right with me was being asked to leave a review before trying the food. When you walk in, they mention you can get free food for leaving a review, but it’s expected that you also purchase something. I personally prefer to try a place before reviewing it so I can give an honest opinion. Overall, the food was tasty, but I’d feel more comfortable reviewing after the experience rather than before.

1908 Bakery is such an exciting, much-needed, addition to Gainesville’s food scene. Located inside Yummy House and sharing the space seamlessly, it’s easy to miss at first glance but absolutely worth seeking out as it fills the void left by Sweet Buns bakery perfectly. The bakery offers a wide variety of delicious sweet and savory buns, cakes, and pastries, as well as refreshing drinks like matcha lattes and boba tea. Their pastries are always incredibly fresh, light, and filled with the most delicious, creamy fillings, with just the right amount of sweetness. The menu includes solid daily staples along with several new treats that rotate each day, which keeps things fun and exciting. It’s the kind of place where you walk in for “just one thing” and walk out with a full bag. There’s also plenty of seating, making it an easy spot to hang out, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet moment with a pastry and drink. Friendly service, great baked goods, and a convenient location—1908 already feels like a new go-to. I’m so glad they opened, and I can’t wait to work my way through the entire menu.
